Road Trips with the "Trips"!

Road Trips with the "Trips"!

Summer time is all about fun and family, visits and vacations right? Traveling in our mini van, what's worked while road tripping is trying...and I say "trying" to stay organized and pack light. HOWEVER, packing light with triplets is virtually impossible. Here are a few things that have helped and work for us.

Having a Pack & Play per triplet is a must. I've discovered there are mini Pack & Plays which may work even better in terms of space for me but as the babies get older they may grown out of them.  I found out almost by accident that for brief, local trips I can forgo the Pack & Plays (although I keep them in the van) that the triplets will take short naps in their car seat. Hey, whatever works, right?  Setting up a Pack & Play in a unfamiliar room, with three inquisitive girls just doesn't work and will only wake up a sleepy baby. I realized that I can feed them and then secure them into their seat and Voila, it's familiar territory and if you say a prayer they may take a nap!  I also never travel without their noise machine. A noise machine (which plays white noise and nature sounds) not only helps block any outside disturbances, but the girls are so accustomed to it, since it's been in their room from day one. I really feel like it helps with their naps and sleeping at night.

If I forget the sound machine, which has happened in a rush, I end up finding something very similar on You Tube. Which is never ideal, because that's either on my phone or computer so thats a worse case senario, but it works in a pinch!

Here the girls were set up in a hotel, with Big Brother Kanon!

Another thing I can't travel without is our portable gate. At this age, with the girls on the move, crawling and cruising,  if I don't bring it, everyone within arms reach is on baby duty, trying to make sure the girls aren't pulling up on something or putting something in their mouth. If I can muscle up the strength, I'll also bring the floor tiles, which are foam alphabet tiles that I put down to cover the floor in their portable gate. I keep a big, yellow comforter in my car to use in place of the floor tiles, whenever I don't feel like bringing one more thing. This comforter has enough padding so that if the girls fall on it they won't hurt themselves and it stays in my car as well. Throw in a few of their toys and we're good to go!  I've even started to bring a walker, that I can include within the gated area, because even if they can't walk around in it, it provides a level of interest inside their confined space. Making the space as comfortable as possible for the girls is important.

I knew we'd only be on the board walk for a little while, no need for our diaper/over night bag.  Jut threw some wipes, diapers, water and formula in the chassis just in case. No heavy lifting required, aside from the growing babies! Top is fro…

I've learned where I need to cut back is packing for myself! I tend to be an over packer, but I no longer have that luxury so when it comes to me and my items, it's about easy, comfortable items, I can reuse and repeat when I can.

This is where Pink Blush has been great for me. Not only can I find dresses, but casual, active and lounge wear too. Stylish tops I can easily pair with shorts or pants are a must on road trips! Clothes I can wear more than once simply by mixing and matching separates. Like this camo top with the front pocket. Who doesn't love pockets (insert emoji raising hand)?! This online boutique has stylish clothes for moms, maternity and women in all different stages of life.  The top in the pictures I wore at two different times in two different places. Front pocket for my phone or any baby item was super cute and functional.

The only other thing that I'd make sure I have, but you can get almost get anywhere, is a bottle brush.  To help clean and scrub those dirty bottles before we can reuse them. If you leave this at home they are easy enough to find and cheap enough to buy!

Hope you all had a great summer. We'll see as the girls get older how traveling with them will change!
