Time to Make the Donuts - back to work after 18 Months!!!
It has been a while since I last connected with you, forgive me! So much has been going on in 20GR8Teen(2018). After the New Year, I made a list of resolutions and a short list of goals and finding a job was one of them. Of course that also meant that I had to find a daycare that was a good fit for the girls, so I had my work cut out for me. I should add that also on that list was "take time for yourself," exercise to keep my sanity and of course be present. Not too ambitious, since every year, exercise and taking time for myself is on the list. After being home with the girls for close to 18 months, this resolution and goals lists was a high priority.
When it came to me updating my resume and looking for jobs, I started to think, what do I have to offer, who is going to want to hire me after not working for 18 months?? Then, I regrouped and realized, actually, I am more marketable, goal oriented, a better problem solver, multitasker and manager of all things. I am the new and improved Karae. I had a few interviews and put the word out there and as God's plan would have it, my former job was doing some restructuring and hired me back. I was more than happy to return, and to a new team. I was in the building! Back in an environment that was creative, working on a brand that I like and in the company of people that were completely supportive of me during my pregnancy with the girls. I was off to a good start.
I quickly upped my research for a daycare and low and behold, found one that I really liked. Things were all set and I was ready to turn the next page in this chapter.
Of course I had a little anxiety of what the morning routine would look like. The triplets and I always had to get out the door and piled into the car to drop Kanon off at school, but I'd more or less throw clothes on all of us and just leave . Now I had to be intentional and dress for work and get the triplets up and dressed in something other than pajamas. My morning routine still includes making Kanons lunch and breakfast for the kids, then dropping the girls off at daycare, then dropping Kanon off. I then have a half hour drive to work to be there by 8:30 AM, to look like I don't have 4 kids and get my mind right. I usually do my make up some time between the Kanon drop off and pulling into my job.
Aside from Kanon getting up a earlier and getting out the house, getting clothes ready the night before helps. Sock are still the baine of my existence. Thank goodness the weathers getting warmer and not having to put on jackets or socks (if they wear sandals), really helps shave some time off my morning. Trying to find that 6th shoe will have me tearing the house apart. That has also become my new worse nightmare so I have to make sure I have eyes on all six the day before.
The girls really adjusted well to Daycare. Brook & Beau were a little sensitive at first and would cry but Bailey stayed strong. I probably would have lost it if all three were crying but I counted on Bailey to be my rock (lol). Of course picking them up, always makes my day. They stop what ever they are doing to come greet me at the door. Its the best feeling in the world. Check out our insta-story for a daily dose. The girls are completely tire when I pick them up so the night time routine has been dinner once we get home and bed by 7:30 (whoa!!) Then my life can begin ;)
Regarding the fitness, exercise portion of my resolution, I made sure I signed myself up for a few races in the begining of the year so I was forced to train.I do have a tread mill at home, since being back at work, I've been able to go to the gym during lunch occasionally, so it takes the pressure of my not having to jump on the tread as soon as I put the girls to sleep. After giving birth to the triplets, not only did I get a very small hernia, I also got Diastasis Recti. It's very common after giving birth and probably more common after having triplets. It's a condition of the abdominal muscles where theres a gap and separation in the muscles that hold in your internal organs and stabilize your core.
Sometimes the tissue heals, and the muscles come back together after delivery. Other times they don't and you still end up looking 4-5 months pregnant. There are exercises that minimize it but it can't be fixed without surgery. I've been able to lessen the appearance of that and some of the skin & stretch marks by with loosing weight, but high waisted jeans and spanks help with the appearance. If you have any questions about any of the above, please DM, email or make a comment on IG. I always try my best to get back to my supporters.
Until next time!!! Thanks for reading!
